The Miss Emery Scholarship Pageant was held on Saturday. Four contestants competed for the crown of Miss Emery 2008. They were Holly Damron, Savannah Winn, Allison Stokes and Lacey Branson. Damron was crowned the new Miss Emery 2008 and Allison Stokes finished as the first attendant.
Savannah Winn was the top ticket sales winner. Allison Stokes also won the Directors Award and the Spirit of Miss Emery award.
The contestants spent two nights in rehearsal for the show. They started the competition on Saturday with their private judges interview. The interview counts for 25 percent of the total score. A luncheon was held after the interviews and then the contestants came back for the main event. Concompeted in talent where Winn did a lyrical dance, Damron sang, “Where the Boys Are,” and Stokes performed a jazz ballet and Branson sang a song. The talent competition comprises 35 percent of total score.
The contestants participated in swimwear, evening wear and onstage question.
Miss Emery 2007, Karrie Johansen served along with Scott Labrum as the master of ceremonies. A special award was given to Willie Frisbee who has helped with the sound and technical side of the production for 28 years.
Special numbers were given by the Spardette Drill Team, All-Star Cheerleaders, former Miss Emery 2005, Shala Pitchforth, Clerece Chidester, Miss Emery 2006 Kristine Johansen along with her sister Miss Emery 2007 Karrie Johansen, and Kaylee Van Wagoner.
Little Miss Emery Madison McCandless performed her talent number and helped with the onstage questions.
