Desertview Pro Rodeo will rock the county on its special 10th anniversary
The Desertview ProRodeo is slated to come to town on July 24, 25, and 26 at the rodeo arena in Castle Dale. For nine straight years the Desertview Pro Rodeo has grown larger and now reaches its special 10th Anniversary edition. The rodeo committee knows the success of this rodeo is due to the greatest rodeo fans and sponsors in the country. The three day event will be jam packed with cowboys and cowgirls from all over the country competing for big money purses. For the second year the Desertview Pro Rodeo is a sanctioned Dodge Rodeo. On July 24 the rodeo will end with a bang thanks to Castle Dale City and the Desertview Pro Rodeo. A huge fireworks finale will light the sky at the conclusion of the Thursday performance to celebrate Pioneer Day.
New this year is the hide race. The Desertview Pro Rodeo is looking for a few brave men and women to try their luck at the hide race. Riders will enter the ring and their partner will jump on the hide and hang on for the ride of their lives around the barrel and back out of the arena for a timed score. Event organizers hope to have at least 20 teams participate in this event so call now to reserve your spot. The entry fee is $50 per team with 100 percent pay back, plus $1,000 added money. This event is on July 24 at the Desertview Pro Rodeo which begins at 7:30 p.m. Call Emery Recreation Department at 435-381-2108 to register.
During the rodeo on Friday there will be a special surprise and the rodeo committee guarantees it is huge. But, it’s a secret. Friday night is Castle Valley Ranch night at the rodeo. Each night of the rodeo will feature the wild cow milking event. Local cowboys compete for prize money and all around belt buckles for the overall champions. This is Emery County’s truly extreme, unique event. Don’t miss this event because you will be entertained to the max with this wild action.
The Desertview ProRodeo has attracted some local cowboys Huntington brothers Justin and Brock Truman will calf rope on Saturday. Wacey Allred of Cleveland will bull ride. Derald Riche from Helper will ride bulls. Barbara Ann West of Price will race barrels. Brock Winn of Ferron competes in saddle bronc. As always some of the top national rodeo stars will make the trip to Castle Dale. They include the likes of seven time world champion Clay O’Brien Cooper in calf roping.
The rodeo begins at 7:30 p.m. each evening under the Emery County blue skies.
Are you T.E.T.W.P.? What exactly does that mean? The Desertview ProRodeo committee wonders if you are “Tough Enough to Wear Pink.” The rodeo committee wants every rodeo fan through the gate on Saturday, July 26 to show their support by wearing a pink shirt, hat, ribbon or just anything will do.
For every pink fan the rodeo will make a donation to Active Re-Entry to assist local cancer patients. The Desertview ProRodeo has partnered with “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” for the Saturday night performance.
“Tough Enough to Wear Pink” has been raising big bucks for cancer across the nation. Some of the largest rodeos in the nation have climbed on board. Many of them have raised $30,000 and more for a single event.
Wrangler is a partner in the cause and donates all of the money from the sale of pink shirts to cancer awareness.
Rodeo organizers say, “We want everyone to know that we support you in your fight against cancer. We would like to encourage all cancer survivors to come out to the Saturday night rodeo and to wear pink. This is the second year we have done this, and we want to keep this tradition alive at our Desertview ProRodeo. We love you and care about you and anything we can do to make your fight against cancer a little easier we would like to do. We would just like to look out over the crowd on Saturday night and see a sea of pink shirts, hats or whatever. We don’t even care if you want to dye your hair pink for this occasion. Local businesses Pro Rehab and Magnuson Lumber, Zions Bank and Headquarters will be donating 500 Knock out Cancer towels to the first 500 rodeo fans through the gate.
Desertview Credit Union said, “We are proud to sponsor the Desertview ProRodeo for the residents of Castle Valley. This is a world class rodeo event and with the continuation of the “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” event for cancer we hope to make this rodeo even more community friendly. We hope everyone comes out to support the rodeo and this event which gives everyone a chance to make a donation for cancer and all you have to do is wear pink and the rodeo organizers will do the rest. Hope to see you at the rodeo.”
Ike Sankey will provide the rodeo stock for the event. Sankey is known far and wide for his rodeo animals who know their job and perform it well. His stock is used every year at the National Rodeo Finals held each year in Las Vegas.
