Mudslide closes US-6

By By

A massive mudslide demolished a construction site and closed US Highway 6 this afternoon for an indefinite amount of time.
According to Utah Department of Transportation representative, Tina Jensen, the first report of the slide was around 2:00 p.m. There have been no reports of injuries at this time.
UDOT has set up a command post near Billy’s Mountain. Authorities have also closed a long stretch of US-6, spanning from Billy’s Mountain to mile marker 191. Traffic is being routed over Indian Canyon for the time being.
Road crews are working diligently to clear the road and repair the damage from the slide, reported Jensen.
There is also a flash flood warning in effect throughout the Carbon County area and travel is not advised until the warning is lifted. If travel is imminent, make sure to call UDOT at (435) 637-9572 for current road conditions.
