Relay for Life kicks off for 2009 event

Upon their return from an amazing Summit conference for the ACS in Reno, to prepare for our local Relay for Life, Judi Bishop, event chair and Amy Day, team development chair are really geared up to have an outstanding Relay in Emery county in 2009.
“We are filling the committee and volunteer list beginning now, as we have a Relay U in Salt Lake in November, for all committee members to attend. It will be an informative and fun week end. If anyone is interested in being a first timer or returning to this great event please contact Amy at 687-9771, or Judi at 653-2221,”said Bishop.
“With this being Emery county’s 15th year and the Relay for Life’s 25th year, we would like to have persons who were volunteers, teams, committee over the span of the Relay here to come back and help us with an alumni event and teams.
“We will, each and everyone of us at sometime in our lives be effected by cancer, be it ourselves, loved ones, family member or friends. Our wish as with other diseases is to find a way to eliminate it all together. This research takes time and of course funding, which through Relays we can help with funding. We also through funding can assist those already afflicted if they need rides to treatment or in other ways.
“We have to have the passion to want to see this done and through volunteering with events such as Relay we can accomplish that goal.
“Our theme this year will be fun to work with as it is, “Back to the Future,” and we have some great ideas to launch and we welcome other ideas also. Please come join us either as volunteer, to be on a committee, form a team or just come have fun with friends, neighbors, family and other residents from all over the county. You will have a fun and memorable experience,” Bishop said.
Any and all who were on committees in 2008, are welcomes back, so give them a call.
The Relay for Life committee would also like to welcome the survivors to contact them and be active participants in relay 2009.
