The Emery High Spartan football team played their second consecutive game against an undefeated, highly ranked region team and came away with another lopsided loss. The only difference this week was the fact that the Spartans were ice cold, literally.
When the team left Castle Dale, it was T-shirt weather. When the team stopped in Salina, it was T-shirt weather. But in Delta, it was far different. It was cold and windy; a wind that bit right through you and it was only going to get worse as the sun set.
Delta would score five of the six times they had the ball in the first half, once on a returned punt. Delta piled up 247 yards of offense versus 44 yards for Emery.
The only solace for the Spartans was the fact they actually scored on the Rabbits. The touchdown pass from Gatlan Huntington to Colby Snow was the first touchdown given up by Delta against a Utah foe this season. They had pitched five previous shutouts.
Emery will now travel to Mt Pleasant this Wednesday night and play region foe North Sanpete. Emery looks to bring home a win after playing two of the best teams in the state the last two weeks.
