Lacey Montgomery finished second for the Emery High Lady Spartan cross-country team in the region 8 meet held at Juan Diego last week. With the high finish, the girl’s team was able to qualify for the state meet this week at Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City.
Salem Hills won the meet followed by North Sanpete, Juan Diego, Emery and Delta. Carbon did not field a team but had several runners competing for the individual title.
Salem Hills also won the boy’s division followed by North Sanpete. The Emery boys did not qualify for the state meet this week as they lost that last position by one point.
Following Montgomery was Larelan Huntsman, Natalie Baantjer, Sharel Gilbert, Amanda Ewell, Tennyson Fauver and Leisha Magnuson. Leisha is a drill team member who was kind enough to come over and compete with the team so that they had enough bodies to field a team.
Christy Guymon, girls head coach said, “We are excited. Lacey has a shot at doing very well.”
