Price-Lloyd Venton Johansen age 89, passed away Monday, December 1, 2008, in Ferron, Utah. Lloyd was the fifth of nine children born in Cleveland, Utah, on September 24, 1919, to Charles Anton and Sophia Ann Timothy Johansen. He was raised in Cleveland, Utah and surrounding area, and at a young age he learned the value of hard work by herding sheep and working on the family farm. Lloyd married Mary Leora Childs on December 23, 1940 in Price, Utah.
Lloyd worked in the coal mines for over 40 years while continuing to farm on the side. His hobbies were working with horses, braiding bridals and tack, planting gardens and grapes, fishing, just being in the outdoors, and dutch oven cooking. He was a family man who loved his family and spending time with them, he loved visiting with others and never met a stranger. He was very generous with giving to those in need especially from his garden. He will be remembered as a loving, hard working, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Mary; children: Lavell (Linda) Johansen of Grand View, Texas, Helen Lee (Tom) Longhurst of Florence, Montana, Enid Cecille Wood of Las Vegas, Nevada, Gary (Kathy) Johansen of Pocatello, Idaho, and Charlie (Annette) Johansen of Benson, Arizona. Sister: Leah Neilan of St. George, Utah brother: Roy Johansen of Elmo, Utah, sister-in-laws Velma Allred of Elmo, Utah, Ann Allred of Huntington, Utah, and Darlene Acerson of Riverton, Utah, 17 Grandchildren and 25 Great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Max, Merwin, Tom, Ruel, and Glendon, one sister Eunice Chatwin, son-in-law Mick Wood, sister-in-law Shirley Brown, brother-in-laws, Sheldon Childs, Kenneth Childs
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Price 4th Ward Chapel (545 East 400 North). There will be a viewing that same day at 10 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Cleveland City Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
