Creating Prepared, Communities for Homeland Security
Jan. 14-15, 2009 at the Castle Dale County Building, 75 East Main Street, Castle Dale. Sponsored by: Utah Commission on Volunteers, Emery County Sheriff’s Office What is this training about? Utilizing adult-learning principles and the problem-based learning method, this training provides an opportunity for community members to work in cross-disciplinary teams, to draw on collective skills, knowledge, and resources, to address existing or potential homeland security threats at the community level. This no-cost training is supported and certified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Office of Grants and Training, Course #AWR182. Online registration: www.regonline.com/CVPR. Fly-tying Clinic
Learn how to tie flies like a pro. Starting Jan. 14 for six weeks. $20 registration fee includes nearly all supplies. Register at the Emery County Recreation building on Jan. 5 or 6 before 6 p.m.
Raquetball Tournament
Emery County Recreation will be holding a raquetball tournament at Food Ranch on Jan. 17 beginning at 8 a.m. There is a $10 entrance fee, prizes for the winners. Register at the Emery County Recreation building on Jan. 5 or 6 before 6 p.m.
New Years Celebration
Ring in the New Year at the Price Senior Citizen Center 9 p.m. till midnight with “Music of the Heart.” All ages welcome, refreshments will be served and party favors supplied. Donations suggested. For more information contact Annette at 650-0049.

Ice Fishing Tournament
Join Scofield State Park staff Dec. 27 for its Third Annual Ice Fishing Tournament. Registration is limited and required by calling (435) 687-2491. The cost is $13 per entrant. Check-in begins at 6:30 a.m. with the tournament beginning at 7 a.m. A prize is awarded for the biggest fish, along with drawings for door prizes, and free hot chocolate and hot dogs for everyone who participates.
