In retrospect it appears vitiriol of the antagonists of Proposition Eight (marriage defined as being only between one man and one woman) toward the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints requires some added critiquing.
Freedom of expression is protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution for all citizens including both antagonists and proponents of the proposition.
Emotion was substituted for reality and a fundamental principle of government was ignored. The antagonists have exacerbated their folly by committing acts of violence against the Mormon people. This is universally unacceptable to civilized cultures and causes third party’s to question the character of the perpetrators.
Lastly, the advertising it has given the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can be measured in hundreds of thousands of dollars. An axiom in the marketing and public relations world as old as those institutions are: “It doesn’t matter what they say about us as long as it keeps our name before the public”
