The second day back to school after a long winters nap saw the Lady Pirates basketball team packing their winter woolly’s and heading up to play the Tabiona Tigers on their home floor. The small gym – really small gym – is no stranger to the Lady Pirates and they know they’d have to play good straight up basketball to come away with a victory. They did just that with a convincing 58-38 win.
The Pirates came out of the gate a bit slow but began hitting on all cylinders when the paint became the home away from home for Brandi Webster who scored a team high 14 points. Fast breaks, steals and outside shooting opened the game up with Sarah Swalberg and Bailie Packer scoring eight apiece with Cady Mecham and Lindsey Spadafora adding six points each while Crosby Hatt added five and Tracy Engleman added a pair.
It’s always good to come away from ‘Tabby’ with a win and will get them ready for a long road trip to Navajo Mtn. and Monument Valley just a few days away.
