The Green River Pirates have entered the slow part of the basketball season as they only had one game last week, one game this week and then one game next week.
In the one game last week, Green river easily defeated Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant by a score of 65-42. In the one game this week, Green River will travel Wednesday to Eureka to play Tintic High and next week, the Pirates, along with the Lady Pirates, will jump back into region action against Monticello on Friday night in Green River.
Green River jumped all over Wasatch Academy at the start of the game as they outscored their opponent 21-9 in the opening quarter. Although the middle two periods were played relatively to a standstill, as Green River won the two periods 19-18, Green River then finished off the game in grand style, as they owned the final period 25-15.
Tyson Johnson led the team with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Brennan Bigelow was right behind with 18 points including a pair of 3-pointers. Jason Johnson scored eight points and Justin Johnson scored four points. Kayden Mecham scored three points and Adam Steuer scored a single point in the win.
