At the recent meeting of the Huntington City Council Sharon Pulli addressed the council about problems she and others on her street have with their water pressure. She said she had been in contact with Darrel Leamaster of the Special Service District about upgrading the water line on 400 East.
Mayor Hilary Gordon responded that she had been in contact with Leamaster as well and they were in agreement that the current water line will be replaced with a six inch water line as soon as possible this spring. Pulli also voiced concern about a big hole in the road on the approach onto highway 10 from 400 East. Cars cross over the center line trying to avoid it and it is dangerous. The council members agreed with her and will take the steps necessary to get it repaired.
In the Mayor’s report Mayor Gordon told the council that she had received a phone call from Sherrel Ward of the Public Lands Council and the BLM has requested that each town have a public dumpster to try to alleviate the problem of garbage being left on public lands. She also said she will be going to a meeting of the CIB in February to ask for money for sidewalks.
Councilmember Julie Jones said the community calendar that she and the youth city council put together is at the printers. When they are finished she will distribute them to the youth to hand out to the citizens of Huntington.
Councilmember Cathy Cowley reported that the Order of the Arrows are coming back this summer. They will be camping out at Canyon View Junior High June 8-13. The council also approved a business license to Gary Diamond for a barber shop and approved two amendments to the city’s zoning ordinances.
Huntington City Council meets the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in city hall.
