When people visit a doctor, a hospital or other health care providers, they usually are asked to list the medications they are taking.
Often when people are sitting in the waiting room they can’t remember. Or sometimes they may not even be able to list them because of problems they are experiencing. Not having that list makes it difficult to deal with patients health care problems.
Obviously reactions to drugs, conflicts with others and allegies are important and without a list doctors and nurses can be working literally in the dark.
That is why healthcare specialists are asking people to keep and properly maintain a list of present medications people are taking.
A medical emergency can take place at any time; and preparing a list ahead of time can be a life saving proposition for people who are involved in such an incident.
The list of such medications should include the typical drug name (whether prescription, herbal or regular over the counter drugs use regularly), what the dose is, how often it is taken, when it is taken, how long the patient has been taking it and who prescribed it for them.
Once the list is filled out it is suggested it should carried with the person it belongs to at all times.
