Valentines Festive Friday


February’s Festive Friday will be held Feb. 6 at noon upstairs in the courthouse. Bring any Valentines ideas you wish to share and $2 for lunch and handouts. Join in for food, fun and facts.

Free Student Aid Workshop


Seniors and parents, free money available. Need help filling out your FAFSA? There will be a free application for federal student aid workshop at Emery High with Kim Booth, CEU Rep. Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. in the Emery High Library.

Lincoln Day Breakfast


The annual Lincoln Day breakfast is scheduled for Feb. 7 at 9 a.m. at Barn’s Grill. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Utah State Senator David Hinkins and Utah Rep. Kay McIff will report from the Utah Legislature. Jim Hansen and Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert will also attend and Jim Bennett. Sen. Bob Bennett will be in town on March 7 to speak. Everyone welcome.

A Man for All Seasons presented at College of Eastern Utah


College of Eastern Utah Theatre is in rehearsals for A Man for All Seasons by Robert Bolt set to run Feb. 5-10 (black Sunday) at 7:30 p.m. in the Geary Theatre. The play tells the story of Sir Thomas More, who defies King Henry the VIII’s desire to divorce Catherine of Aragon in order to marry Anne Boleyn. Thomas More’s decision to stand up for his strong principles and beliefs places him at odds with the state that would have him simply “go along.”

Buckhorn District Eagle Scout Dinner

Class of 1989 High School Reunion

Craig Law will have his work “The Art in Rock Art” displayed in College of Eastern Utah’s Gallery East from Jan. 29-March 5.

Castle Dale DUP


Castle Dale DUP will hold its monthly meeting on Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. at the Castle Dale Senior Center. Everyone is welcome and bring a friend and have a good time.

Huntington City Dog Licenses


The Huntington City 2009 dog licenses are now due. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license can be issued. Deadline for dog licenses is March 1. Dog licenses may be purchased at the Huntington City Hall or at the rabies clinic which will be held at the Huntington City Fire Station on the following dates: Feb. 21: 10 a.m.-noon (Glen Jensen DVM).

Campground Host


The Emery County Recreation Special Service District is taking bids for a campground host at Bear Creek Campground. The host will perform various duties and will work under the direction of the Emery County Recreation director. The contract will begin April 5 and end Oct. 15. A bid packet may be picked up at the Emery County Recreation office at 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. All bids must be turned into Emery County Recreation by March 6 at 5 p.m.

Vendors Wanted


The Emery County Fair is now accepting applications for food and general vendors for the Emery County Fair which will be held on Aug. 6-8. To be an exclusive food vendor, you must have your application into the Emery County Recreation office at 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale, by March 20. An application may be picked up at the office between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and 1:30-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, or go to the website www.emerycounty.com/fair/vendor. Valentine Carnival


The 14th annual Huntington Elementary PTA Valentine Carnival will be held on Feb. 13 from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Huntington Elementary gym. Tickets will be 10 for $1. There will be food, games and fun. There will be a craft sale and bake sale. Games will include: fish pond, cake walk, RJ the Clown, football toss, coin toss, pop game, face painting, treasure hunt and much more. Everyone welcome.

Valentine Dinner Dance


The Huntington Stake will hold a Valentine Dinner and Dance for all adults 18 years of age and older on Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the Huntington Stake Center in Huntington. Everyone welcome.
