HELPER-Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Earl O. James, age 90, passed away at home surrounded by his family at 6 a.m. on Feb. 4, 2009.
He was born May 1, 1918 in Helper, Utah to Frank J. and Elizabeth Leona Seely James.
Married Yvonna Mae Anderson, Nov. 26, 1938 in Castle Dale, Utah; their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on Dec. 19, 1964.
Earl was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in the yard and assisting neighbors, and friends in need. He retired as a locomotive engineer with the Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad in 1979 with 37 years of dedicated service.
Survived by his wife of 70 years, Yvonna James; sons, Louis (Erma) James, Arthur James; daughter, Vearla James-Warner; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; sisters, Rhea Parry and Donna Chiaretta.
Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Frank, Donald, and Glen James.
Funeral service, Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, 11 a.m. Helper LDS Stake Center, 150 Ridgeway Street. Family was at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price Friday evening from 6-7 p.m. and at the church Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily.
