The talk of a stimulus package is in the air and could be passed in the Senate before this piece comes out on Tuesday.
This is my idea of a stimulus package. There are 303,824,640 million people in the United States. The first number they discussed for the stimulus package was $840 billion. That is a lot of money. I think instead of spending that money in that stimulus package which may or may not create that many jobs, they should deposit a $1 million in everyone’s bank account in America. Or they should send everyone a check, either way.
What would the American people do with this type of wind fall? I bet they would boost the economy. If they were business owners maybe they could hire a new employee. Expand their business, buy more inventory, improve their building; build a new building. I bet they could put the money to good use improving their business.
You would be required to pay taxes on your money. This would put money back into the government and local communities for projects. I think the people should be more involved in which projects get funded and how they benefit a community and how they grow the economy.
If you have a mortgage you would be required to pay that down. Thus, money would go back to the mortgage companies and they could lend money. If you are a homeless person then you would need to buy a home or rent and get into an apartment. You would have to get off the street.
If you are a child or a teenager you would be required to save a good portion of your money for a college education and for your future. You could spend some of your money on a car, clothes, shopping, pizza for two weeks straight or whatever you would choose.
Most teenagers would buy a car and in order to spend their stimulus money they would have to buy a car from an American car manufacturer to help out those helpless car manufacturers.
You know the teenagers would spend some money. Kids are really good at shopping and buying things.
If everyone had an adequate supply of money, then I wonder if robberies and thefts would decrease and crime as a whole? Why do people commit crimes where they steal? I would guess it’s because they don’t have money or whatever property they are stealing. Maybe they wouldn’t need to steal any more.
If people have a job, then they would be encouraged to keep working at their current job, or maybe they would want to return to school to get more education to get a better job?
What would you do with your money? I know a teenage girl who received a check for a settlement and pretty soon she had a car and new clothes and the money was gone. I think people are really good at spending money when they have it and even when they don’t.
Has your husband always wanted a Harley? Have you always wanted to travel? Do you want new golf clubs? Think of the things you could buy to stimulate the economy. You could even save some of your money and earn interest on it and the bank or credit union could lend that money out for more economic growth.
I was thinking about what I could do with my windfall. Maybe add on to the house, and help out the construction industry. For sure I would get some new clothes, it seems like I never have time to shop and always look like something the cats drug in.
Back in December we did a shop at home campaign where we encouraged people to shop locally because shopping locally will increase the tax revenue for the county.
Would America benefit from buying products that are made in America? Why doesn’t America build or make anything any more? Whenever you purchase something you can look at the labels and you have to really look hard to find a label that says a product was made in America. When did we get away from producing products and manufacturing things in America? I think it happened when the taxes in America became too high for companies to do business in America. A lot of our companies went to Mexico and overseas where they could get cheap labor. I think people need a living wage. But some labor movements have almost put their companies out of business. I think concessions need to be made so businesses can stay afloat.
Since when and why do we always look to the government to solve our problems? The government has a lot of accountability in our current economic crisis. The housing market always tells the story of the economy. Why were those big lending companies, required by the government to lend money to people who had no ways and means to pay the money back?
You are setting yourself up for failure if you don’t live within your means.
I am a little annoyed too with some of Pres. Obama’s choices for his cabinet positions. Why would Congress approve someone who didn’t pay their taxes? It’s not just a small oversight to not pay your taxes. I have a friend who works for the IRS as an auditor and I know they pursue people who cheat and don’t pay their taxes relentlessly. They don’t let you get away with anything.
So why did this guy get away with not paying his taxes? You can bet you would be in jail if it was you. I faithfully do the taxes for our family and it’s like something hanging over my head each February until I get them done. I believe in paying my fair share of taxes and boy I get annoyed with people who don’t think they need to pay their taxes.
So I guess I’m just tired of the government giving money away on pie-in-the-sky projects that I don’t believe are going to work. America’s greatness has always come from its people. People have invented the technology that we enjoy today. Private business has advanced America and its ideals and strengths. I heard in the inaugural address that it didn’t matter how big government was if it was working. Well, in my opinion it’s not working. Put the money back into the hands of the people, and quit taking all our money in taxes and let us spend some of it.
We can stimulate the economy just fine.
