Lady Spartans advance in 3-A play-offs
Against the Uintah Utes last Saturday night, the Emery High Lady Spartans did what they had to do and won their opening round play-off game 61-34.
Emery Coach Steven Gordon after the game, “We needed to stop fouling them in the first half. We were a little slow on defense and I told them that at the half. We also were getting beat on the boards.”
Emery could sense the game was over soon after it started as Uintah appeared to be over matched and proceeded to take care of business. Emery won the opening quarter 14-5 as ShiAnne Allred shot the ball well and scored seven points to lead the team.
In the second quarter, Emery took a 20-6 lead and then free throws kept Uintah close as they made 11 of 16 in the first half and actually outscored Emery 12-10 over the last 6:28 of the half.
Emery started the third quarter on a 9-0 run and won the period 22-4 to lead after three quarters 52-22. Frankie Komar hit three straight 3-point shots and scored 11 points in the period to pace the team’s offensive effort. Jodi Robertson added a pair of threes as the Spartans romped.

Tiffany Tuttle shot the ball well as she came off the bench and played valuable minutes. Tiffany scored eight points, had two steals, one blocked shot and one rebound.
