The auto team took second at the New Mexico Junior College Automotive contest. Teacher Mike Kava said, “Chandler Peacock placed seventh, Rhyker Allred placed eighth. Cy Nelson placed ninth. Josey Johnson placed 15th and Tony Farrer placed 35th.
“Emery had the most kids placing in the top 10. The team had a good time and nice weather for the trip and we also went to Carlsbad Cavern while we were there.
“Rhyker Allred and Hayden Barney participated in the hands on finals for the Weber State Auto contest on the Feb. 19. They haven’t received the final scores to see exactly where they finished but I feel comfortable to say they will be in the top half of the competing schools.
“On Feb. 25, 11 students took the Ford/ AAA written test to see if they can qualify for the final hands on portion in late April or early May.
“On March 21, Jason Judd the soldier will return home. We have been working on his car and just completed the paint over the weekend,” said Kava.
