HELPER- G. Hollie Sillitoe died Feb. 26, 2009 in Carbon County, his home for all of his 80 years.
Hollie was born in Castle Gate on Nov. 28, 1928 to George Edgar and Ethel Henderson Sillitoe. His father was killed in a mining accident when he was four years old. He was raised by his mother and step-father Joe Tullius. Married Sylvia Dalpiaz April 27, 1957 in Helper.
In his youth he was a proud member of the 1943 Utah State American Legion Championship Baseball Team.
He was affiliated with the family newspaper business, served as a Helper City policeman, and ended his working years as a carman on the Utah Railway. As a member of the 1946 Class of Carbon High School he served as the class reunion chairman for over 33 years, and self appointed class historian.
Hollie has gone to join “the gang”, family members, and important friends.
Survived by his wife, Sylvia; daughters, Trisha (Taber) Grange; Tracy (Tim) Hammack; brother, Nemo Butch (Roseanne) Tullius; granddaughters, Hollie Grange; Taylor and Torie Hammack; many nieces and nephews; and special “daughter” Nicolle Jacobs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother in law, Marge (Jim) Dervoe; nephew, Joey Tullius.
Hollie wished to be cremated and at his request there will be no services. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
