Emery Co. Care and Rehab has new administrator

Things are changing at Emery County Care and Rehab in Ferron, and it is beginning with a new administrator. Colleen Chauvet, who is originally from the Salt Lake valley, began working as the administrator during the second week of January. With 45 years in the elder care profession, her experience made her a good choice for the facility in Ferron.
“I have worked for Traditions Health Care for nine years. Last October, Traditions lost the contract at the veterans facility where I was working. I was made aware of the administrator position open here and I applied, and I was fortunate to be chosen,” said Chauvet. “The people here in Emery County are very lucky to have Traditions in charge of this center. They oversee 11 facilities in Utah and it is a Utah owned company. John Bramall, who was once the administrator here, began Traditions.”
Chauvet is renting a home in Ferron, and makes the trip back to Salt Lake each weekend. Until her husband, who works for the State of Utah, retires and can relocate, this is how it will be. She and her husband have three children who are all grown and on their own.
“I love it here in Emery County. This is a beautiful area and we cannot wait to explore it on our ATVs. This area is so great and the people are so nice,” said Chauvet. “I am really getting into this position here at the rehab center. I love to see what needs to be done and figure out how to get it done.”
Chauvet explained before she worked for Traditions, she owned and operated four care facilities of her own. Before getting into the elder care business, Chauvet worked as a school teacher.
Another change coming to Emery Care and Rehab is the remodeling project which is in the planning stages. The current building is more than 40 years old and is in need of some updates. Plans are being drawn and funding is being explored for the project.
The plumbing in the kitchen and laundry areas of the current facility needs to be updated. This portion of the remodel will be completed first. It is hoped that by May, the plans will be finalized.
Emery County Commissioner Laurie Pitchforth said, “The project will not only update the kitchen and laundry areas, but a solarium, new offices, a multipurpose area, a resident dining area, driveway, parking, systems upgrades, and sidewalks will be added. We are also hoping to do additional remodeling to some of the other rooms. When this project is complete, the center will have a whole new look.”
