GREEN RIVER, UTAH- Joyce Beth Wayman Powell age 73, passed away March 12, 2009 in Ferron, Utah. She was the third of four children born to Arnold and Amy Rozella (Jensen) Wayman on April 25, 1935 in Ferron, Utah. Joyce Married John Ralphs Powell on Oct. 16, 1959 in Ferron, Utah, their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Joyce grew up and attended school in Ferron, graduating from South Emery High. She attended and graduated from Utah State University with a BS in education, she taught Home Economics at Green River High School for many years. Joyce was very active in the LDS Church and served as Relief Society President twice, Primary teacher, Young Woman organization, and served a Temple mission to the Monticello LDS Temple. Joyce loved gardening and grew beautiful roses, she was a talented seamstress and quilter, her hands were always busy.
She is survived by her husband John; children, Christine (Keith) Ludwig of South Jordan, Utah, Bill Powell of Monroe, Utah, Amy Powell Black of Draper, Utah, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, sister Zella (Mike) Deto and sister-in-law Audra Wayman
She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Arnold and Lloydell Wayman.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Green River LDS Chapel (95 North 100 East). A viewing will be same day, 12:30-1:45 p.m. prior to the services at the Church. Interment will be in the Elgin Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
