Active and Retired Miners
The Miners Hospital will sponsor an educational program for active and retired miners and their families May 6, 7-8:30 p.m. at the Huntington Senior Center, 100 North 200 West in Huntington. Brooke Hammond, Aud, CCC-A, FAAA, will talk on the prevention, identification and management of hearing loss.
Millsite Ladies Golf League Opening Social
The opening social for the Millsite Ladies Golf league will be held April 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Millsite Clubhouse. A light dinner will be served. All new ideas will be welcomed regarding schedule and etc. Encourage all the ladies you know to come and join, while learning the game of golf. Membership is $25 and will include a T-shirt with the association name printed on the front. Sizes and team colors, as well as dues will be discussed at the social. Emery County Historical Society Members
You are welcome to our March meeting on March 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum Of The San Rafael in Castle Dale. The subject will be “Outlaw Chasers.” Panel discussion featuring: Jerry and Judy Nichols along with Kelly Taylor. “Who Was the Sundance Kid?” Yes, of course there will be music and refreshments. Come and enjoy the evening with us. Watch for our April Meeting. We are planning a trek to somewhere mysterious and exciting. And…if it snows we have a terrific backup. Have you paid your 2009 dues? Ferron Easter Egg Hunt
Ferron City Easter egg hunt will be held April 8 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Toddlers age 3 and under-9 a.m. at the soccer field; preschool ages-9:30 a.m. at the soccer field; kindergarten-9:30 a.m. at the kindergarten playground; first graders-10:30 a.m. at the main playground; second graders-11 a.m. at the main playground; third graders- 1 p.m. at the main playground; and fourth graders-1:30 p.m. at the main playground. Main Street Market is providing bags for the children to carry their eggs in. All children will get to hunt for eggs, then meet in the gym for a special prize. Sponsored by the Ferron Youth Council.
Desert Edge Christian Chapel Easter Sunrise Service
Desert Edge Christian Chapel will hold Easter Sunrise service April 12 at 7:30 a.m. at the chapel located at 500 South Main Street in Huntington. A breakfast buffet will be served following the service. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Code Red in Emery County
Do not ignore the very important phone call from the Code Red service. The number is 866-419-5000. More code red information will be sent out next week. These phone calls are alerting residents to the upcoming emergency preparedness fair on March 26 at the Carbon County Event Center from 4-7 p.m.
Miss Emery
Girls between the ages of 17-24 are needed to compete in the Miss Emery Pageant on July 11. If you are interested call the Emery County Progress at 381-2431 to register.
Cleveland Easter Egg Hunt
The Cleveland/Elmo youth town councils will sponsor this years Easter Egg Hunt on April 4 at noon. All preschool and elementary age children are welcome to meet in front of the Cleveland Town Hall. So bring your baskets and don’t miss the fun in Cleveland. It’s fun, it’s free and everybody gets a prize. Don’t be late, it starts promptly at noon. Mens and Womens Softball Registration
Mens and womens softball team registrations are in progress. Register your team before May 19 at the Emery County Recreation Center. Mens league will begin May 26. Womens league will begin May 27. Call Emery County Recreation at 381-2108 for more information.
American Legion Spring Convention
The American Legion Spring Convention will be held March 28 at the Huntignton Senior Center at 11 a.m. National Auxiliary President will be the special guest speaker. Fourth Annual Baseball Camp March 27-28
There will be a two day baseball camp at the Huntington Complex from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 27 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 28. The cost for the camp is $65 or if you can only attend one day the cost is $35. If you would like your child to have some one on one time with an instructor, (which will start right after the camp) the cost is $25 for a half hour. They can learn hitting, catching, pitching, in-fielding or outfielding. Boys and girls age 8 and up are encouraged to attend. Lunch will be provided. Contact Shaun or Kris Bell, 748-2906 or 749-2239.
