HELPER-Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend, Mary Rolando Ruggeri, age 85, passed away March 16, 2009 while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Feb. 13, 1924 in Helper, Utah to James Perino and Maria Quilico Rolando.
Married Peter James Ruggeri, Jan. 5, 1947 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper; he died Sept. 18, 1985.
Mary was an active member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church where she spent countless hours working on the carnival. For many years, she enjoyed selling thousands of raffle tickets with her sister Teresa. In 1945 she graduated from Holy Cross School of Nursing, and later returned to Carbon County were she worked for Dr. Gorishek and the Carbon Nursing Home as a nurse.
Mary loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family and fishing at Joe’s Valley. Mary was a great mom, wonderful grandma, and loving great-grandma who will be greatly missed by all.
Survived by her son, James S. Ruggeri Sr (Jo Ann); grandsons, James S. Ruggeri Jr., (Tricia), Michael J. Ruggeri (Jennifer), Peter John Ruggeri (Amy); great-grandchildren, Jordan James, Michael, Christopher, Talynn, Rylan, Cash Kooper, and Bradi Brie; loving sister, Teresa Milovich; beloved brother, Joe (Alberta) Rolando; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; and great-grandson, Tristan John Ruggeri.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dallen and the nursing staff at Beehive Homes for all their love and care, Dr. Radley for keeping mom comfortable and out of pain, the great staff at Rocky Mountain Hospice for all their love and devotion to mom at the time of her passing. The Ruggeri family would especially like to thank Aunt Teresa and her family who were with Mary to the very end. Your kindness and devotion to our Mom will never be forgotten.
Funeral Mass was held Friday, March 20, 2009, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper. Vigil service was Thursday evening 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family was at Mitchell’s Thursday and Friday one hour prior to service. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
