Emery County Democrat Convention
The Emery County Democrats will hold their county convention and dinner on April 23 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center (175 West 100 North in Huntington). All interested people are welcome to attend. County party officers will be elected and local and state party leaders will speak. Dinner, entertainment and prize drawing will also be provided. Tickets will be available at the door.
Lamb Fry Vendor Wanted
Emery County Fair is looking for a Lamb Fry Vendor. Preference will be given to a non-profit entity. The dates of the fair are Aug. 6,7 and 8. This is a great way to raise funds for your group. Farm Bureau Issues Surfacing Meeting
Emery County Farm Bureau is sponsoring an Issues Surfacing Meeting on April 14 at 7:30 p.m. upstairs in the courthouse. This meeting is to discuss any issues affecting agriculture or its related fields in our county. The meeting is open to all interested persons.

Engineering State
Utah State University hosts the 20th annual Engineering State program June 8-11 for all local, national and international high school students. The application deadline has been extended until April 10. The $100 registration fee covers housing for the week in university housing and all meals. Qualified applicants must be high school students entering their junior or senior year in Fall 2009, have a strong interest in math, science, technology or aviation and display citizenship excellence on their scholastic record. Miss Castle Dale pageant
Castle Dale girls ages 4-21 to be contestants in the Miss Castle Dale Pageant. Contestants must live in Castle Dale. Each contestant will be judged on appearance, talent, and interview. To ensure a successful experience, an opportunity will be given to each participant to practice prior to the pageant. The age divisions will be ages 4-7 Tiny Tot Princess, ages 8-12 Little Miss Castle Dale, ages 13-16 Junior Miss Castle Dale, and 17-21 Miss Castle Dale. The winners of each age division will participate in parades and Castle Dale City celebrations throughout the year. The Miss Castle Dale Pageant will June 13 at the Emery High School Auditorium. The deadline to enter the pageant is May 18. A Miss Castle Dale application may be obtained at Castle Dale City Hall. California Elementary Student Seeks Utah Information
Jessica Ceja is a fifth grade student at Napa Valley Language Academy in Napa, Calif. Her class is researching states in our country and she has chosen Utah to do her report on. She needs information on our history, economy, agriculture, historical places, important figures, national parks and other points of interest. Art Night at CVJH
Canyon View Junior High will be hosting its Annual Art Show, April 16 from 6-8 p.m. Students will be performing musical numbers, poetry reading and dance numbers. Art projects and handcrafted items, sewing and woodshop, will be displayed. Refreshments will be served. All family and friends are welcome.

Millsite Mens Golf Association
Millsite Mens Association is now underway. The one man scramble will be held April 18 at 9 a.m. They will golf every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the clubhouse. The Senior Mens Association for those 50 and over will be every Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Pinewood Derby Extravaganza
The District cubscout pinewood derby extravaganza featuring the pinewood derby to be held on April 18 at the Orangeville LDS church and park from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Weigh-in at 9 a.m. Fun for the entire family. Racing and activities, concessions available. Everyone welcome. Activities will also feature the rain gutter regatta and air rockets.
Fines for Food at the Castle Dale Library
From April 1-17, the Castle Dale Library will waive fines for food donations. All donations will be given to the Emery County Food Bank. This is a great way to clear up your account for fines, so take advantage of it. Castle Dale Library hours are Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Ferron’s Annual Spring Clean Up
Ferron’s annual spring clean up will be held April 18 at Mayor’s Park at 8:30 a.m. Doughnuts and juice will be provided. Bring rakes, shovels, gloves and push brooms. A great service project. Free garbage bags.
Ferron Offers Tree Planting Workshop
This workshop is sponsored by TreeUtah. Ferron was awarded $1,500 to plant trees in the city. Volunteers are needed to plant these trees at the north entrance to the fairgrounds. It will be held April 28 at 6 p.m. Bring rakes, shovels and gloves. This will be a great service project in honor of Arbor Day.
Active and Retired Miners
The Miners Hospital will sponsor an educational program for active and retired miners and their families May 6, 7-8:30 p.m. at the Huntington Senior Center, 100 North 200 West in Huntington. Brooke Hammond, Aud, CCC-A, FAAA, will talk on the prevention, identification and management of hearing loss.
Free Resource Makes Applying for Student Financial Aid Easier
The Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority announces “Navigating the FAFSA,” a much-needed new resource to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (commonly called the “FAFSA”). This tool is a self-directed presentation that guides students through topics explaining the purpose of the FAFSA, how to obtain a PIN to sign their FAFSA securely online, what information should be gathered, how to complete the FAFSA, and how to submit it. Easily found on the front page of the UHEAA website, this presentation gives high school counselors and financial aid professionals another tool to help their students. Golf Tournament
The Miss Emery Celebrity Golf tournament will be on May 9 at 9 a.m. at the Millsite Golf Course in Ferron. Sponsored by Emery Recreation District and the Millsite Mens Association. Four person scramble, $200 per team. Includes all fees and a lunch. Raffle tickets for a driver and other prizes on sale. Hole in one on Hole 5 wins a new car. Hole in one on Hole 7 wins a utility trailer. Funds raised will benefit Miss Emery and the Children’s Miracle Network. Call Millsite at 381-2887 to sign-up your team.
Millsite Ladies Golf
The opening social for the Millsite Ladies Golf league will be held April 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Millsite Clubhouse. A light dinner will be served. All new ideas will be welcomed regarding schedule and etc. Encourage all the ladies you know to come and join, while learning the game of golf. Membership is $25 and will include a T-shirt with the association name printed on the front. Sizes and team colors, as well as dues will be discussed at the social.
