On Saturday the Green River Pirate track team ventured off into the seemingly winter wonderland of Richfield a profitable, albiet cold and blustery track meet. The team consisted of three girls who either placed in the top four of each event or qualified for the BYU invitational to be held next week.
Kari Mayall in only her second track meet threw the shot put for 25′ 06″ which will enable her to participate in the coveted invitational. She now needs to either place in the top three at region or throw 29+ feet to compete at State.
Sarah Swalberg took third place in the shot put with a throw of 30′ even, which qualifies her for the invitational plus a chance to compete at State. Sarah also took second place in the Javelin with a throw of 108′.
Lindsey Spadafora competed in the long jump taking fourth overall with a jump of 15′ 03″. Lindsey and Sarah are proving to be very competitive in the 1A category and are holding their own against the larger 2A and 3A teams.
