Lamb Fry Vendor Wanted


Emery County Fair is looking for a Lamb Fry Vendor. Preference will be given to a non-profit entity. The dates of the fair are Aug. 6,7 and 8. This is a great way to raise funds for your group. Applications must be submitted by or before April 30 at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Emery County Recreation at 381-2108.

Miss Castle Dale Pageant


Castle Dale girls ages 4-21 to be contestants in the Miss Castle Dale Pageant. Contestants must live in Castle Dale. Each contestant will be judged on appearance, talent, and interview. To ensure a successful experience, an opportunity will be given to each participant to practice prior to the pageant. The age divisions will be 4-7 Tiny Tot Princess, ages 8-12, Little Miss Castle Dale, ages 13-16, Junior Miss Castle Dale, and 17-21 Miss Castle Dale. The winners of each age division will participate in parades and Castle Dale City Celebrations throughout the year. The Miss Castle Dale Pageant will be June 13 at the Emery High School Auditorium. The deadline to enter the pageant is May 18. A Miss Castle Dale application may be obtained at Castle Dale City Hall. Class Of 1989 Reunion


Times and date have been set. July 11. Picnic to begin at 12 noon at the park by the rodeo grounds in Castle Dale. Bring children and your own lunch. Dinner to start at 5 p.m. at the high school. Bake Sale/Garage Sale

Know Before You Go


An ATV permit class will be held May 12 at the old Courthouse building beginning at 7 p.m. for ages 8 and up. You must pre-register at the Emery County Recreation office located at 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. For more information, contact Emery County Recreation at 381-2108 or Mark Williams at 381-2493.

Hunter Safety Class


A hunter Safety Class will be held May 26, 27, and 28 at the Emery County Recreation Center. Class will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. each day. There is no age or class limit. You must pre-register. Participants will be required to obtain a voucher at a licensed vendor for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources prior to registering for the class. Emery all-Star


Emery All-Star Cheerleading Elites Team Try-outs. May 27 10 a.m. at Larae’s Studio in Huntington. Ages 10-18 years. Fees due upon making the team. This is for the Elite team only. Junior Cheer Clinic

Summer Cheer Class


Summer cheer classes start June 15-29 at Larae’s Dance Studio. Ages 5-18 years. Learn cheer technique, tumbling, jumps, and age appropriate stunting. Register by June 1, call 687-2632.

“Armed Forces Day” Yard/Bake Sale


American Legion Auxillary, Ferron Unit #42 Annual Armed Forces Day yard/bake sale will be held May 16 at Mayors Park in Ferron from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Proceeds go to Operation Home Support, Girls State and Sub for Santa. “She’s Got Skills” Volleyball Camp


Let’s see what you got.Come to volleyball camp and polish your serving, passing, setting and spiking skills. We will also be focusing on team building. Learn To Be Self Sufficient


Self reliance classes are being held at the courthouse in Castle Dale at 12 noon on the following dates: May 5-cooking with game meats; May 12- making cold process soap/making laundry soap; May 19-gardening/rain barrels; May 28-Dutch oven cooking, cost: $5, no potluck. Speaker will have cookbooks, dutchovens, etc. for sale; June 2-making and using your own “green” cleaners; June 9-financial preparedness/setting up a financial binder; June 23-canning basics; June 30-using a pressure saucepan; and July 14-Pat Preston. Everyone is welcome to attend and bring a pot luck dish.

How does your Garden Grow?


Find out at the Huntington Library. The experts from Gordon’s Nursery will be sharing some gardening tips and ideas to help make your garden flourish. May 14 at 4:30 p.m. at the Huntington Library. Everyone is welcome, come in with your questions and enjoy a fun afternoon.

Golf Tournament


The Miss Emery Celebrity Golf tournament will be on May 9 at 9 a.m. at the Millsite Golf Course in Ferron. Sponsored by Emery Recreation District and the Millsite Mens Association. Four person scramble, $200 per team. Includes all fees and a lunch. Raffle tickets for a driver and other prizes on sale. Hole in one on Hole 5 wins a new car. Hole in one on Hole 7 wins a utility trailer. Funds raised will benefit Miss Emery and the Children’s Miracle Network. Call Millsite at 381-2887 to sign-up your team.

Veteran’s Benefits


So many veterans feel confused about benefits and services they’ve earned. There’s so much to know…and so many changes from one year to the next. That’s why the nonprofit DAV offers help. The DAV Mobile Service Office will be at the following locations to personally provide the best counseling and claim filing assistance available. Like all DAV services, help from the Mobile Service Office is free to all veterans and members of their families. May 4-5, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Department of Work Force Services building, 162 North 400 East, Building B.

National Anthem


The Desertview Pro Rodeo and Emery County Fair will be holding auditions for a solo, duo or group to sing the National Anthem. Auditions will be held May 12 at 7 p.m. for more information on location and to register, please contact the Emery County Recreation office at 435-381-2108.

Food Classes


There will be food handler’s classes for all persons working in restaurants, bars, nursing homes, school cafeterias, convenience stores or deli’s. Classes will be taught in Price, on May 12 and June 16 at 9 a.m. and 4 and 7 p.m., 28 South 100 East. In Castle Dale, on May 13 and June 17 at 4 and 7 p.m., 25 West Main Street. In Green River, on May 20 at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., 460 East Main Street.The classes are two hours in length and the cost is $10 to take the test. For more info. call 637-3671 or 381-2252.

BookCliff Muzzleloaders Spring shoot


The annual Spring Shoot will be held at the Buckhorn Draw on May 1-3. Team shoot 6 p.m. on May 1. On Saturday at 9 a.m. aggregate rifle shoot paper and silhouettes. At 1 p.m. mountain man run; at 2 p.m. pistol shoot and 3 p.m. shotgun shoot. May 3 at 9 a.m. paper shoot bring a handmade blanket prize.
