Emery track prepares for region and state

Emery hosts state qualifying track meet
Last week, Emery High was host to at least 10 other high school track teams as they hosted a state qualifying track meet. This meet allowed participants the automatic right to go to state if they could beat the times or distance required as set by the state.
Representing region 8 were Emery, Delta, North Sanpete, Carbon and Juan Diego. Other teams represented were Wayne High, Union High, Altamont High, San Juan High, Monticello High and Gunnison High.
The best finish of the day was by Weston Allinson in the 3200 meter run where he finished third; Colton Fasselin was fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 53:05. Also finishing fourth was Cort Jensen on the 1600 meters with a time of 5:02.8. The Emery boys finished fifth in 1600 meter relay.
Sue Greenberg had the best finish on the girl’s side with a sixth place finish in the discus. Sue threw for 79’9″. Lexi Stokes was right behind with a throw of 73’4″. D’Lee Gardner finished eighth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 18.99.
Caleb Woolsey finished seventh in the 3200 meters, Cort Jensen finished seventh in the 800 meters and Jake Gardner finished seventh in the 300 hurdles.
