CLEVELAND/WEST JORDAN-Lori Corrine Hayward Adams, passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side, on May 3, 2009 after a long battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a very devoted nurse.
Lori was born Aug. 24, 1955 in Mt. Home, Idaho, the first child of Ward D. and Claudette Averett Hayward. She spent her early childhood growing up in Lark, Utah, before moving with her family to Emery County, Utah.
Lori married Larry L. Adams, Feb. 2, 1973 in Cleveland, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS temple. She and Larry were blessed to be the parents of seven wonderful children: Tom, Robert, Douglas, Kelly and Elizabeth, later adopting Briana and Jordan.
Lori lived in Cleveland most of her life. She enjoyed spending her time raising her family and helping Larry on the farm. She loved caring for the farm animals she was always eager to help out in any way, even running farm equipment.
She was a very hard working woman and her ambition led her to enroll in the CEU Nursing program to earn her LPN license, while at the same time working at a local nursing home facility to help pay the bills. She later went on to earn her RN certificate and worked in many facets of nursing.
Lori showed her love and compassion working as a devoted nurse in several nursing facilities in Salt Lake, Price, and Moab. Being recognized by her peers for her excellent nursing skills she became director of Nursing at Emery County Nursing Home and later served as the Director of Nursing facilities in Price, Utah.
She finally moved her family to West Jordan, Utah and served as a Director of Nursing at Federal Heights, Holladay Nursing Home and lastly Wasatch Nursing and Rehab. With all of her experience working in nursing homes she also earned her Administrators License. Lori loved helping people and enjoyed working in home health.
Lori’s Patriarchal Blessing stated that she would touch the lives of many people, and this she did. She was a very generous person always willing to extend a helping hand to anyone. She will be missed dearly by her family and all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband: Larry L. Adams of West Jordan, Utah; children: Thomas (Diana) Adams of Heber, Utah, Robert (Rhonda) Adams of Bloomfield, N.M., Douglas (Cora) Adams of Price, Utah, Kelly (Johnny) Farnsworth of West Jordan, Utah, Elizabeth Adams of West Jordan, Utah, and youngest daughters Briana and Jordan Adams of West Jordan, Utah; 12 grandchildren: Marcus, Michal, Tayler, Amber, Kristen, Dillon, Micha, Tanisha, Tysen, Korben, Kayden, and KateLynn; mother: Claudette Hayward of Castle Dale, Utah; brothers: Jeff (Dina) Hayward of Castle Dale, Utah, and Nathan Hayward of Price, Utah; sisters: Nikki Hayward of Castle Dale, Utah, Melissa (Tom) LaRoque of Billings, Mont., and Carleen Hayward of Price, Utah; and numerous nephew and nieces. She is preceded in death by her father Ward D. Hayward.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Castle Dale Third Ward Chapel-165 West 800 North. Viewing will be Wednesday, May 6, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary-720 North Center Street-Castle Dale, Utah, and Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Interment will be in the Castle Dale City Cemetery.
Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary.
