A Wellington woman was killed Tuesday morning as a result of an automobile accident that took place on Highway 10 near the north Cleveland junction in Emery County.
Lt. David Bennion of the Utah Highway Patrol said that Tarina Shepard, 36, was killed when a south bound pickup truck driven by Clifton Elliott, 25, of Castle Dale inadvertently crossed over the center line and struck her north bound pickup head on.
The accident, which happened just before 9 a.m. at milepost 56, closed the highway for some time as crews had to extricate victims from their vehicles and clean up the mess on the road.
Bennion said the crossover was apparently not intentional and that Elliott was not trying to pass anyone. He said that no citation has been issued and that the investigation is on going.
Bennion also said there was no indication of alcohol or speeding in the case of either party involved.
Elliott’s condition was not known at the time of the report.
