Emery opens region golf season in Delta
The 2009 high school golf season began last Thursday when the Emery Spartans traveled to Delta and opened region play against the other teams in region 12. The match was held at the Sunset View Golf course.
Mark Guymon, a senior golfer for the Spartans, led the team with an 83. Mark’s score was the fourth best among region golfers. Also playing well enough to have their scores counted were Brady Jensen, Brian Langston and Gage Bell. Chance Huntington and Hunter Huntington also played but their scores were not counted in the team score.
Juab had the best score in Delta with the host team finishing second. Emery was edged by North Sanpete by one stroke and finished in sixth place. Manti and Richfield finished in the middle.
Next Thursday, Emery will travel to Snyder’s Bluff Golf Course in West Point to participate in a golf tournament. Snyder’s Bluff will host the state tournament this season.
