MT. PLEASANT: Charles Rowe Olsen 66 passed away peacefully on Aug. 31, 2009 at his home, after a long valiant fight with cancer. Born Jan. 25, 1943 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Rowe and Josephine Menzies Olsen. Charles served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station. He married Tonna Draper in 1969 in Ely, Nev. and were later divorced. Married Deanna Nelson Stonehocker on June 25, 1991 in Ely, Nev.
Charles loved the outdoors, tying flies and fishing, hunting, camping and roaming the desert, admiring its treasures. He enjoyed metal detecting and traveling. He was a wonderful gardener and his tomatoes were his specialty. Charles worked as a coal miner at several mines but worked at Deer Creek Mine for 24 years.
Survived by his wife Deanna of Mt. Pleasant, Utah; children, Charlotte (Kevin) Dubizar, Springville, Utah; Amanda Olsen, American Fork, Utah; Nathan (Keisha) Olsen, Payson, Utah; step-children, Bobbie (Jaclyn) Jarman, Bountiful, Utah; Amanda (Ray) Swensen, Bountiful, Utah; sisters, Barbara (Gary) Timothy; Doris Skinner and Bonnie (Don) Jansson, all of Overton, Nev.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Devere “Dee” Menzies; son, Clinton Rowe Olsen.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 4, 2009 at noon in the Mt. Pleasant Sixth Ward Chapel (461 North 300 West). Friends may call Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Rasmussen Mortuary in Mt.
