Letter to the editor: A rock, a rock, a rock

By Helen McNeil Wilberg Castle Dale

Editor:
I became involved with rocks when I saw the large rock delivered to Emery High School. I thought of my rock, “Central High School” on the lawn in front of the Pioneer Museum with worn out black paint and a faded “C”. As I asked people about the letter “C” I received coal, Castle Dale, etc. to my dismay.
I was among the last class that graduated from Central High.
The rock stood on the hill in front of the school overlooking Castle Dale. It represented the bonding of school spirit. Striving for the best, friendships long lasting, united as one.
As I drive past the rock, I always recall the years that have passed.
May I thank you Zora Fielder and Mayor Neal Peacock.
To Mayor Peacock who painted the rock.
To Zora Fielder who made a beautiful “Central” display in the foyer of the Pioneer Museum.
My thank you may seem small compared to all you have done but it comes from the heart.
It’s a comfort to know we can count on each other through whatever life brings.
