Now that crews have thoroughly secured the lines adjacent to homes near the east perimeter, the focus will shift to tying containment lines on the north and south flanks. Considerable progress is expected today and if everything goes as planned, full containment will be reached at the end of the day. At that time, engines will patrol the fire to full controlled status.
Recreation in the area is not likely to be impacted. The fire has produced very little smoke in the last 24 hours and while some residual smoke is present from other fires throughout the state the air is getting back to normal. Wildfires throughout the state have produced smoke in much of the state, but storms moving north of the area today will likely produce light winds that will help dissipate smoke before the weekend.
As of Wednesday afternoon West Scofield Road is still closed, but owners of homes in Scofield West along the lake are being allowed to pass through the closed area to access their property. Property owners in the Scofield Mountain Homes subdivision will be allowed in today to inspect their property and view the fire area. Those wishing to coordinate passage through the closure may call 801-703-0225.
