Cities prepare for primary election on Sept. 15, remember to bring your identification

The Emery County Clerk’s Office wants to get the word out that positive voter identification will be required at the polls on Sept. 15 and at the primary election on Nov. 3.
The Utah Legislature passed House Bill 126 last legislative session which requires all voters to bring a valid voter identification to the polls in order to vote. Following is a list of valid voter identification: drivers license, valid identification card issued by the state of Utah or a branch, department or agency of the United States; valid concealed weapon permit; valid United States passport; valid tribal identification card whether or not the card includes a photo.
You can also bring two forms of identification which bear the name of the voter and provides evidence that the voter resides in the voting precinct, which may include: a current utility bill, dated within the 90 days before the election; a bank or other financial account statement; a certified birth certificate; a valid social security card; a check issued by the state or federal government or a legible copy; a currently valid Utah hunting or fishing license; a currently valid United States military identification card; a certified naturalization documentation; a currently valid license issued by an authorized agency of the United States; a certified copy of court records showing the voter’s adoption or name change; a Bureau of Indian Affairs card; a tribal treaty card; a valid medicaid card or electronic benefits transfer card; a currently valid identification card issued by a local government within the state, an employer for an employee or a college or university located with the state; a current Utah vehicle registration.
Those towns which will hold a primary on Sept. 15 include: Cleveland, Orangeville and Castle Dale. Those running for office in Emery include for mayor: Mistie Christiansen; for town council, two positions, David Mangum and Jon H. Sundstrom.
In Ferron, JoAnn Behling is running for mayor; for the two positions of two year council member, Michael A. Behling and Garrett Hansen; for the two positions of four year councilmember, Trent Jackson and Joe Trenery.
In Clawson for mayor Amanda Price; for two two-year councilmember positions: Dean Allen, Jerry L. Price, Bryant Glade Nelson and Christy Jean Gasser.
In Orangeville for the four year mayor position: Bart Cox, James L. Davis, Carmen Humphrey and Patrick J. Jones. For the two four year terms of council member, Carol D. Cox, Carole Larsen, Thomas D. Madsen, Paul Riddle and Mark M. Tuttle.
In Castle Dale for the four year term of mayor Winston Palmer and Neal L. Peacock; for two four-year term councilmembers: Kyle Beagley, Jeremy Jewkes, Cindy Lopez, Julie Johansen Love, Jack R. Rogers, Adam B. Thompson and Douglas Holmes Weaver.
In Huntington City for the office of mayor for a four year term, Hilary Gordon and R. Boyd Wilson. For two four year term councilmembers Jeff Cowley and Mark T. Justice.
In Cleveland for mayor a four year position, Chris J. Parkins. For councilmember four year term two positions open: Kit Anderson, Bryan Christensen, Verla Jensen, Ashlee Stansfield and Jesse Ward.
In Elmo, no one declared candidacy for the office of mayor. For two four year open councilmembers, Stoney Lavar Jensen and Ryan C. Jensen.
In Green River, for the four year term mayor Pat Brady declared candidacy. For two four-year terms of council member: Irene Daw, Phillip Engleman, Danielle Hansen and Kent Johnson.
In the primary election in Castle Dale the field of seven candidates will be narrowed down to four for the two council member positions.
In Orangeville, the field of four mayoral candidates will be narrowed down to two and the five candidates for the council members will be narrowed down to four.
In Cleveland, one candidate will be eliminated from the council member race.
Early voting for the primaries began on Sept. 1 and will run through Sept. 11.
