"Valerie Ann Dickson"

By By

Surrounded by love and family, Valerie Ann Dickson was reunited with her dad after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer on Sept. 5, 2009.
She was born Dec. 11, 1964 in Price, Utah to William Lee “Mick” Dickson and Glenna Gilson.
From the beginning, Valerie did things her own way. The spunk she was born with never faltered, it led her on a life that went many places, gave her many friends and helped her battle an overwhelming enemy.
As a small child, Valerie was precocious and curious. She had a beautiful smile and contagious giggle. Valerie graduated as an East Carbon Viking in 1983, where she was involved in cheer, basketball and volleyball. She had a brilliant mind, quick wit, and she made those around her simultaneously frustrated and deliriously happy.
Valerie spent many summers in Lake Powell where she worked and played with equal fervor. She loved boating, skiing and the many people from all different places. She also spent several years in Colorado where she became a diehard Denver Bronco’s superfan. She returned to Price to be with her family and go to school and pursue a career in computers. Valerie was very proud of her time at the College of Eastern Utah and she continued to take classes in between doctor visits and chemotherapy.
The last year was filled with time at home being cared for by her loving mother. Valerie poured every once of love she had into being a daughter, sister, and aunt and loving caretaker of wayward animals. Valerie walked with her dad in his battle with cancer although she was fighting her own.
He preceded her in death by only a short time.
She is survived by her loving mother and step-father, Glenna (Jackson) Gilson, Price; three sisters, Miki Lynn (Clint) McInelly, Paula (Kenny) Vigil, both of Price; Leslie (Tanner) Dickson-Christensen, East Carbon; nephew, Jordan Goranson; and “her girls” her nieces, Ashley and Alyssa Vigil, and Tori Dickson. All of whom she loved as her very own, and of course, her cat O.B.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, 1 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price. In remembrance of Valerie, please send donations to the American Cancer Society in memory of her. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home.
Bill to her (Mother) Glenna Gilson, 754 North 300 East, Price, Utah 84501
