HELPER – Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Francisco “Frank” H. Vega Sr. passed away Sept. 14, 2009 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
He was born Dec. 3, 1917 in Guanajuato Lancon, Mexico to Roman and Anastasia Mendoza Hernandez Vega.
Married Aurora Sanchez Oct. 4, 1939 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Gallup, N.M.
Frank was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Helper where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post #21. He was an employee of Independent Coal Company and a retired member of the U.M.W.A..
Survived by his loving wife, Aurora S. Vega; children, Anastacia (Able) Lazoya; Catalina (Jesus) Lazoya, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; Roman (Isabel) Vega, Helper; Frank Jr. (Margret) Vega, Salt Lake City; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons, Joseph and Jeremiah Vega.
Funeral Mass was held Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, 10 a.m. St. Anthony Catholic Church, Helper.
Vigil service, Thursday evening 7 p.m. St. Anthony Catholic Church. Family was at the church in Helper Thursday and Friday one hour prior to service. Committal, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
