M.O.P.S Mothers of PreSchoolers
A M.O.P.S. (Mothers of PreSchoolers) support groups is being formed in Emery County. The introductory meeting will be held at Desert Edge Christian Chapel, 500 South Main, Huntington, on Sept. 22 from 6-8 p.m.
Fireside at the Orangeville LDS Church
The fireside will be held at 7 p.m on Sept. 27. Elder Clate W. Mask Jr., president of the Guatemala City Guatemala Temple will be speaking. He is a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy, and served as president of the Spain Barcelona Mission, bishop, bishop’s counselor and Sunday School teacher. He is also a retired teacher and administrator for the Church Educational System.

Community Nursing Services Influenza Vaccination Schedule
Flu shot clinics will be held at the Community Nursing Services Castle Dale.
Sept. 25, Oct. 9, Oct. 23 , and Nov. 13. A clinic will also be held at Hometown Market in Huntington from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 17.
Hunters Education Course
A hunter education course will be held Sept. 30, Oct. 1, 7 at the Emery County Recreation Center. Class will be from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. each day. Fee for class is $10. You MUST pre-register by Sept. 28. Sign up early, there is a class size limit.
Participants will be required to obtain a voucher at a licensed vendor for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources prior to registering for the class.

The Museum of the San Rafael and The Pioneer Museum 40th Year Anniversary
The Pioneer Museum and The Museum of the San Rafael will be celebrating their 40 year Anniversary on Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at The Museum of the San Rafael.
We would like to honor all those who took part in starting and participating in making the museums what they are today.

Huntington City Fall Open Burn
Oct. 3 thru Nov. 1 – Burn permits are required and can be picked up at city hall.
Huntington City Fall Clean-up
September 15 thru October 15. October 15 will be the last limb pick up until the spring clean-up.
Dumpsters will be located behind the hill north of the ball complex.
Please do not place anything on the ground!
The Emery County Landfill is requesting that these items not be placed in the dumpsters that are used for the spring and fall clean-ups; tires, batteries, oil, no liquid of any type such as paint, terpentine, etc., pesticides, cement, and refrigerators.
A person can be fined up $12,000 from the State of Utah for mixing these appliances in with regular refuse because of the freon.
YardSale/Bake Sale Date Change
The yard/bake sale fundraiser for the Senior Citizen Center in Castle Dale that was scheduled to take place on September 12 has been changed to October 24 from 9-4 at the Senior Citizen Center – 150 E. 100 N. in Castle Dale.

Marina Closing for Season
The Joe’s Valley Marina will be closing for the season on September 7. They look forward to re-opening next year in mid-May.

Soccer Referees Needed

Hearing and Speech screening
Emery School District conducts annual speech and hearing screening to identify students who might need further evaluation of their speech or hearing. Students who fail the initial hearing screening will be given a re-test in 3 to 4 weeks. Screening is scheduled with the schools involved and takes place anytime during the school year. District Speech-Language Pathologists administer the tests. All district preschool, kindergarten, 1st grade, new students and any referrals will be screened for hearing. Pre-kindergarten students will be screened during kindergarten registration and 3rd grade students will be screened for speech only. Parents who do NOT want their child to receive speech or hearing screening tests must contact the school secretary.
Boy needs help
6 year old Xander Archuleta is in need of a bone marrow transplant. This family is in need of your assistance for treatment which will take place at Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah and for associated expenses such as travel to treatments.
A donation account has been set up at Zion’s Bank under the name of Xander Archuleta. You can donate at any Zion’s Bank Branch by simply telling them Xander’s name.

High Desert Growers will be holding a farmers market from 3:30 – 6:30 every Wednesday beginning August 12 through the end of the growing season at the Emery County Recreation Building. Come out and support our local farmers. Farmers and their produce are needed.
