WELLINGTON-Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend, Minnie Ruth Pennington Rich passed peacefully Sept. 23, 2009 at Castle Country Care Center in Price at the age of 85.
She was born Feb. 16, 1924 in Superior, Colo. to Frank Charles and Minnie Anice Brand Pennington.
Married David Harvey Rich on March 11, 1941 in Vernal, Utah and they were blessed with six children before his passing on Sept. 7, 1969.
Ruth was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a longtime active member of the American Legion Auxiliary where she held the offices of President and Secretary. She ran the Legion’s bingo at the senior citizens hall for years and made sure that all proceeds went to charity. Her passion was sewing, and she made many beautiful quilts, rugs and embroidery work.
She is survived by her children, Leon Rich, Price, Minnie Anice (Darel) Behunin, Price, Dave (Frances) Rich, Wellington, Iris Rich, Murray, Joyce (Patrick) Sanchez, Price, Shirley (Ron) Ryser, Price; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Freeda Armour, Rapid City, S.D., Florence Cranford, Portales, N.M.; three sisters-in-law, Elaine Rich, Vernal; Edna Rich, Wellington; Gloria Pennington, Florida.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Fred and Howard Pennington, grandson Richard Behunin and longtime friend Golden Lambert.
Funeral service was Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, 12 noon, Wellington Fourth LDS Ward, 50 North 100 East. Family was at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the church Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Wellington City Cemetery.
