Spartan cross country goes to region

Last week Richfield High School hosted the region 12 cross country meet for boys and girls and came away the winner on the boy’s side. The Wildcats had five of the top 11 finishers to easily defeat Juab High School, the runner-up.
North Sanpete High had an even easier time on the girl’s side as they had the top three finishers and six of the top 10 runners. Juab finished second in the girl’s division also.
Team scores for the boys were Richfield 29, Juab 51, North Sanpete 84, Delta 94, Manti 122 and Emery 129. Team scores for the girls were North Sanpete 21, Juab 65, Manti 75, Richfield 94, Delta 122 and Emery 134.
Mike Barber of Richfield was the fastest boy and finished with a time of 15:51. Kody Kleven was the fastest girl and finished with a time of 18:15.
Emery boy’s times were Spencer Fehlberg 17:26, Cory Jensen 17:29, Jesse Malen 18:05.8, Randy Allen 20:01, Weston Allinson 20:45, Kalin Burr 20:52, Caleb Woolsey 21:05, Fabio O’Donnell 21:06, Dawson Jensen 22:01, Keith Bird 22:44, Polson DeMott 22:49, Talin Hansen 23:34, Jake Clement 23:37, Chet Funk 27:42.
Times for the Emery girl’s were Jaycee Bird 22:39, Larelan Huntsman 23:52, Natalie Baantjer 24:27, Jennifer Jensen 25:41, Jessica Seavers 26:24, Rachel Rogers 27:23.
TJ Furner, injured in an earlier race at Richfield, and Larelan Huntsman have both been named Academic All-State.
