CASTLE DALE-Steven A. Stofko, age 57, passed away suddenly Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at his home in Castle Dale while preparing to go deer hunting with his brother.
He was born Jan. 8, 1952 in New Orleans, La. to Andrew F. and Della Jeannean Sellier Stofko.
In 1971, Steve enlisted in the US Marines where he honorably served his country. After returning from the service he worked many different jobs in Illinois. In 1969, Steve moved to Utah with his parents and brothers and they were blessed with many dear friends.
While residing in the area he drove cement truck for 15 years and later went on to work in many phases of construction. Steve enjoyed working with his hands and he appreciated the value of a hard days work.
Steve had a heart of gold and his contagious smile brought the best out in everyone. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and will be sorely missed by his family and many longtime friends.
He is survived by his mother, Jeannean Stofko, Castle Dale, sister, JoEllen (James) Benhart, Geneseo, Ill.; brother, Dale Stofko, Castle Dale; sister-in-law, Lois Stofko, Castle Dale; and three nieces and two nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, and brother, Jerry Stofko.
Graveside service, Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, 12 noon, Castle Dale City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
