SUNNYSIDE-Leland M. Lobato, age 58, passed away Oct. 21, 2009 at Castleview Hospital in Price with his family at his side.
He was born June 20, 1951 in Dragerton, Utah to Filadelfio and Josie Trujillo Lobato.
Shortly after graduation he married his sweetheart, Carol Gonzales on Oct. 10, 1970 in Dragerton, Utah.
Leland was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and graduate of East Carbon High School and the College of Eastern Utah. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran who honorably served in the 1ST Calvary Division Infantry. After returning from the service he went to work at Kaiser Steel where he enjoyed being an active member of the mine rescue. Leland worked a total of 34 years in the mines and he was last employed with Energy West at the Deer Creek Mine.
He enjoying jogging, weight training and riding his Harley. Leland cherished every moment that he spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren. His number one priority was caring for his family and he was awesome at that. Leland will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Survived by his wife, Carol Lobato, Sunnyside; daughter, Loretta Lobato-Putscher and her husband Courtney, Las Vegas; son, Leland Lobato Jr., Suunyside; four grandchildren, Tyson and Marques Herrera, both of Salt Lake, Dominique and Jade Putscher, both of Las Vegas; two brothers and four sisters, Kenneth (Sandra) Lobato Sr., East Carbon, Delores (Ray) Muniz, Payson, Cliseria (Mike) Bruce, Patsy Wilkinson, both of Provo, Elmer Lobato, Juanita (Tom) Archuleta, both of Salt Lake City; many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Mass, Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, 11 a.m., Good Shepherd Catholic Church.Vigil service was Sunday evening 7 p.m. at the church in East Carbon. Family was at the church Sunday and Monday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Cliffview Cemetery, Price. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
