PRICE-Howard Darrell Robertson, beloved father, grandfather, brother and longtime friend, passed away Nov. 4, 2009 in Price at the age of 71.
He was born March 22, 1938 in Ogden, Utah to Howard and Alberta Alberts Robertson.
Married Sharon Lee Coon in the Salt Lake Temple, they later divorced and she passed away on June 14, 1997.
Darrell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy while stationed aboard the U.S.S. Valley Forge. After returning from the service he joined the ranks of the Utah Highway Patrol where he enjoyed working in Carbon and Emery counties. Shortly after his retirement from the Highway Patrol he began Carbon Security where he was a co-owner and operator.
His love for law enforcement took him to Dugway where he worked as a security officer at Dugway Proving Ground for 18 years. Darrell was highly respected by all and during the 911 crisis he was recognized by the Department of the Army for his outstanding service while working at the Dugway Proving Ground. In 2003, Darrell returned to Price so he could be near his family.
Darrell loved going on his daily walks and capturing the beauty of the outdoors through his photography. He spent many hours working on computers and sharing his knowledge of computers with his grandchildren. He always held a special place for his family, grandchildren, and his beloved daughter was the love of his life. Darrell was respected by all and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his children, James Darrell (Melinda) Robertson, San Diego, Calif.; Sandi (Brett) Greenwood, Price; four grandchildren, Caleb (Kasey), Neeka, Teasha and Kaylun Greenwood, all of Price; and one special great-grandson on the way, Treygan Greenwood; brother, Kent Robertson, San Diego; sister, Carol Robertson, Ogden.
Preceded in death by parents and grandson, Jeffrey Robertson.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family was at Mitchell’s Saturday one hour prior to services.
Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
