PRICE-Eileen M. Bailey, 83, passed away on Nov. 11, 2009 as a result of complications due to Alzheimers Disease. She was born on Aug. 10, 1927 in Truro, England to Gordon and Olive Burrows Collett. Met Dixon C. Bailey during World War II and they were married on March 16, 1946 in Truro, England started a new life when they moved to Kenilworth, Utah shortly after her marriage.
Eileen and Dixon spent many happy years raising their two daughters, Barbara and Debbie and they loved to go on camping excursions and fishing trips in the areas around Price. Eileen especially loved to knit and it gave her great joy to give her afghans to family and friends.
She also loved to go Wendover and her favorite expression was “you have to speculate to accumulate.” Eileen also spent many years doing volunteer work as a “Pink Lady” at Castleview Hospital. She also was very fond of her dogs and took great joy in caring for her animal companions.
Eileen is survived by her daughters Barbara (Carly) Burton, Debbie (Jerry) Thomas, grandchildren Jeff, Michelle, Eileen and Jason, nine great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Her special companion Bill Shields showed his great love for her and was at her side every day during her 14 month battle. Her special friend Netta Burton showed great compassion and love for Eileen as well. Preceded in death by parents Gordon and Olive Collett, husband Dixon, and granddaughter Shera Dawn Smith.
The family is grateful to Beehive Homes for the wonderful care and love they provided for Eileen and Rocky Mountain Hospice provided excellent counseling to the family and care to Eileen during the last phase of the disease.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price, Utah. Friends and family may call one hour before services. Interment at Price City cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Foundation or the Castleview Hospital Volunteers Auxiliary.
