When you are making plans for your holiday season, Erwin Sass, general manager of the Dugout Canyon mine, suggests an addition to your list.
“At a time when we are thankful for so many things, we should also remember the outstanding classroom teachers who helped us learn, grow socially and become more self-confident,” said Sass. “The Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Awards Program provides an excellent opportunity to say ‘thank you’ in a special, meaningful way.
“The holiday season is an especially good time to nominate a teacher, because teachers will have a little more personal time to complete the Arch Coal award application,” he added. “The easiest, fastest means of nominating a teacher is online at www.archteacherawards.com.”
Classroom teachers in Carbon, Emery, Sanpete and Sevier counties are again eligible for the awards program. The counties surround the Skyline, Dugout Canyon and Sufco mines operated by Canyon Fuel Company, a subsidiary of major U.S. coal producer Arch Coal, Inc.
According to Sass, nomination forms also may be obtained at schools in the four counties and at many other organizations and businesses that support the program. These include the Utah State Office of Education, Utah Education Association, Utah School Superintendents Association, Carbon County School District, Emery County School District, Sevier County School District, North Sanpete School District, South Sanpete School District, Far West Bank, Market Express, radio stations KMTI, KLGL, KMGR, KSVC, KCYQ, KOAL, KARB, KRPX, and both Taco Time and Bookcliff Sales in Price.
Arch Coal is Utah’s second largest coal producer and a large, state employer, with a workforce of approximately 800. Through all its operations, Arch Coal is one of the nation’s largest coal producers. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE: ACI) and maintains its corporate headquarters in St. Louis, Mo.
