HELPER-Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend, Carl R. Jack Hatch passed away peacefully Dec. 30, 2009 at his home.
He was born Sept. 3, 1927 in Grand Junction, Colo. to Carl L. and Annie Politano Hatch.
Married Jolene Toson April 13, 1951 in Elko, Nev.
Jack served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1950 in the Pacific Theatre and later as a part of the Berlin Airlift. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, and B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1550. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and the good times with family and friends at his cabin in Scofield Reservoir. Jack was instrumental in starting Little League football in Carbon County, and acted as a coach and official for the program. He also coached Little League baseball for many years and touched the lives of many of the local youth. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survived by his wife, Jolene, Helper; children, Monty R. (Paula) Hatch; Shelly (Rick) Olsen, both of Helper; Jack D. (Elena) Hatch, Valparaiso, Ind.; brother, Dwaine Hatch, Washington State; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Danny Olsen; daughter in law, Norma Hatch.
Funeral Mass, Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, 10 a.m. St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
Vigil Service, Friday evening, 7 p.m. at the church in Helper. Family was at the church Friday and Saturday one hour prior to service. Committal, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home.
