PRICE-Our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Helen Pestotnik Etzel, age 94, died Jan. 1, 2010, just 28 minutes into the New Year with a blue moon present for her passing.
She was born in the warmth of the summer, July 5, 1915 in Kenilworth, Utah to Louis and Helen Pongratz Pestotnik.
Helen married Archie Etzel on June 19, 1936 in Price, Utah; he died Oct. 1, 1960.
Helen lived in Carbon County (Hiawatha and Price) all of her life until the last seven months before her death. She was a talented seamstress and cook who worked hard all of her life. She was a member of the Catholic Church and member of the S.N.P.J. Lodge # 113.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Elsie (Lavell) Holmes; four adoring grandchildren, Archie (Margaret) Holmes; Helen Jones, Kathy (Lyle) Obray, and Brenda (Steven) Matern; six great-grandchildren, Kelli, Nicholas, Derek, Nathan, Chad and Brendan; sister, Louise Kankelborg, Butte, Mont. and many loving nieces and nephews.
Helen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Archie Etzel; her parents, and three siblings.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Applegate HomeCare, and Garden Terrace Care Center in Salt Lake for their incredible care.
Funeral Mass, Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, 1:45 p.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, 210 North Carbon Ave. in Price. Vigil service, Tuesday evening 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price. Family will be at Mitchell’s Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to service. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
