Emery High swimmers participate in region

In the just completed inaugural season for the Emery High swim team, two Emery swimmers qualified to advance to the state 3-A meet at Brigham Young University. Eli Oliverson finished second in the boy’s 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:03.37. Davi Bosshardt finished second in the girl’s 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:55.45.
Richfield High School won the region women’s meet with 188 points followed by Delta with 122 points and Emery with 85. Richfield also won the men’s title with 194 points followed by Delta with 112.5 points and emery with 80.5 points. Richfield and Delta have had swim teams for years compared to this being Emery High’s fist season.
Here are the results for the Emery women for those that went to the medals platform: Davi Bosshardt, Cammie Boyce, Ashlin Daley and Brinne Dawes finished third in the girl’s 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:33.57. Bosshardt finished fourth in 2:59.63 and Dawes finished sixth in 3:25.86 in the girl’s 200yard IM.
Nikki Rogers finished fourth in the girl’s 50-yard freestyle with a time of 35.32. Dawes finished fourth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:33.43. Daley was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:16.19. The Emery 200-yard freestyle relay team finished third in a time of 2:07.65. Swimmers were Bosshardt, Boyce, Daley and Dawes. Daley finished third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:30.80.
Rogers finished fifth and Tennyson Fauver finished sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:32.04 and 1:40.52. Emery finished third in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Swimmers were Bosshardt, Boyce, Daley and Dawes.
Here are the results for the Emery boys team at the region meet: the Emery 200-yard medley relay of Weston Allinson, Conner Benson, Colton Clement and Jake Clement finished second in 2:16.36. Colton Clement was sixth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:46.43. Allinson was third and Colton Leavitt finished sixth in the 200-yard IM.
After Oliverson’s second place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, Tyler Rowley finished sixth in that event in 1:04.35. The Emery 200-yard freestyle relay team finished third in 2:07.65. Swimmers were Allinson, Benson, Clement and Clement.
Rowley finished fifth in 1:19.02 and Allinson was sixth in 1:19.06 in the 100-yard backstroke. Oliverson finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:19.13 and in the final event Emery finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay team race with a time of 4:34.33. Swimmers were Allinson, Benson, Clement and Clement.
Emery High coach Marilyn Collard is now looking forward to next season. Collard felt this was a successful conclusion to the first season at the school and feels that the team will get better now that there is an ongoing program.
