Another break-in occurred in Huntington on Feb. 7 or 8. It is estimated the break-in happened sometime Sunday night to early Monday morning. It was reported by B&Ks Stop and Shop employees at 4:27 a.m. when they arrived to open the store. A window was broken at the business, but the suspects entered the building through the back of the store where they removed the swamp cooler from the wall and entered the store.
A large amount of money was taken from the store. Two money bags were recovered. One bag, which had money inside, was dropped outside the window as the thieves made their getaway. Another bag was recovered just north of Huntington on SR-10 near the airport. This bag was just off the highway and contained some receipts and a small amount of cash.
“We have a person or persons of interest in the case,” said Det. Sgt. Robert Blackburn of the Emery County Sheriffs Department. “It was reported by an employee just opening the store. The exact time of the burglary isn’t known, but the previous evening employees left the store around 11:20 p.m. So (the break-in must have occurred) between then and 4 a.m. The case is being investigated. We believe there is a connection to the two break-ins in the county last week. We are busy interviewing anyone who might have information about this break-in at BKs or the one at Country Corner and Cindi’s restaurant.”
The detective asked that anyone with information regarding the burglaries should call the Emery County sheriff’s office at 381-2404, and indicated that callers may remain anonymous.
There is a $500 reward being offered for information on the first two break-ins and a $1,000 reward for information concerning the BKs break-in.
