Archeology Society to meet


The Castle Valley Chapter of the Archeology Society will meet on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. at the CEU Prehistoric Museum in Price. Charmaine Thompson and Renee Barlow will be presenting on the recent pot discovery in the mountains of the Manti LaSal Forest.

Huntington City Dog Licenses


The Huntington City 2010 dog licenses are now due. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be presented before license can be issued. Deadline for dog licenses is March 1. Dog licenses may be purchased at the Huntington City Fire Station on the following dates: Feb. 27-9:30 a.m.-noon (Brett Griggs D.V.M.).

Emery High School Rodeo Team Indoor yard Sale

Fly-tying Clinic


Learn how to tie flies like a pro starting March 2 for five weeks. $20 registration fee includes nearly all supplies. Register at Emery County Recreation Office before March 1.

Orangeville City Rabies and Licensing Clinic


Orangeville City rabies and licensing clinic will be held on Feb. 27 at the New Fire Station 10 a.m.-12 noon. 2010 Dog tags are available at the City Hall, bring in your rabies information when licensing your dog. $8 for altered dogs and $25 for unaltered dog. All dogs need to be licensed in the city, house dogs and outside dogs by March 1. After March 1 there will be a late fee of $25 per dog.

White Wash Sand Dunes Temporary Filming Closure


The White Wash Sand Dunes open OHV area will be closed for filming for approximately one week in late May, early June 2010. The Ruby Ranch Road, as well as all the other roads and trails in the area will remain open for visitor use. For example, the roads and trails in the Crystal Geyser area will be available for motorized use, and may be used as an alternative to the White Wash Sand Dunes. Filming dates are subject to change. Register Now for April ACT Test


Registration is now open for the April 10, 2010 ACT achievement test. Students who wish to take the college admission and placement exam must register before March 5. The cost for the ACT test without writing is $32. When combined with the optional ACT Writing Test, the total cost is $47. Students who qualify may apply for a fee waiver through their high school counselor.

Rabies Clinic


Cleveland Town will sponsor a Rabies Clinic on Feb. 27, from 1:30-3 p.m. at the Cleveland Cemetery Storage Building, 200 N. 600 E. in Cleveland. Dr. Griggs will be the vet this year. All dogs are required to have a current rabies shot before they can be licensed for the new year. All dogs must be licensed by March 1. Dog licenses are $5 for spayed or neutered, $15 if not. All dogs owner are encouraged to take advantage of this clinic. This will be the only clinic held this year. Late fees will be assessed after March 1.

Emery County Recreation is in the process of making a booklet containing a list of all county recreation events, registration dates, and activities. If your city, club, or group have any items that they would like to include in this booklet, please send the information to Emery County Recreation as soon as possible.

Millsite Golf Academy


A beginners golf class will be held Feb. 25 and run through April 1 at 6 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center for ages 8-99. This class will teach you golf terminology, etiquette, how to use clubs and much more information. A $25 fee is required. Bring your clubs with you. If you don’t have clubs, they will be provided. Free Resource Makes Applying for Student Financial Aid Easier


Self-guided presentation walks students through the sometimes-confusing financial aid application process. The Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority is very pleased to announce “Navigating the FAFSA,” a much-needed new resource to help students complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (commonly called the “FAFSA”). This tool is a self-directed presentation that guides students through topics explaining the purpose of the FAFSA, how to obtain a PIN to sign their FAFSA securely online, what information should be gathered, how to complete the FAFSA, and how to submit it. Easily found on the front page of the UHEAA website, this presentation gives high school counselors and financial aid professionals another tool to help their students.
