Another break-in occurred in Huntington on Feb. 7 or 8. It is estimated the break-in happened sometime Sunday night to early Monday morning. It was reported by BKs Stop and Shop employees at 4:27 a.m. when they arrived to open the store. A window was broken at the business, but the suspects entered the building through the back of the store where they removed the swamp cooler and took it off the wall and entered the store.
A large amount of money was taken from the store. Two money bags were recovered. One bag was dropped outside the window as the thieves made their get away. There was money inside the bag. Another bag was recovered just north of Huntington on SR-10 near the airport. This bag was just off the highway and contained some receipts and a small amount of cash.
Det. Sgt. Robert Blackburn said, “We have a person or persons of interest in the case. It was reported by an employee just opening the store. The exact time of the burglary isn’t known. But, the previous evening employees left the store around 11:20 p.m. So between then and 4 a.m.
“The case is being investigated. We believe there is a connection to the two break-ins in the county last week. We are busy interviewing anyone who might have information about this break-in at BKs or the one at Country Corner and Cindi’s Restaurant.
“If you know anything about the burglaries, call the sheriff’s office at 381-2404 and leave that information with me or one of the other deputies, you can remain anonymous,” said Sheriff Guymon
There is a $500 reward being offered for information concerning the break-ins at Cindi’s Restaurant and the Country Corner store in Cleveland and a $1,000 reward for information about the BKs break-in.
